Iceland doesn't have many vegan restaurants to choose from but we were told of this place by one of the local teens "Tobe"! The vegan dish was delicious, very beautiful presentation and the flavors were very fresh and tasty! The servers were very understanding of our dietary needs and very helpful they also had a vegan desert that was so good we took one togo!!! Thank you Tobe and everyone at Gott!!!
Our trip to Vestmannaeyjar was unplanned but easily turned into one of the highlights of our entire trip. After a morning of driving, ferrying, and hiking Gott was the first restaurant that caught our eye. We sat down at a nice table and soaked in the relaxed cool atmosphere. We were so hungry that we wanted to order a little bit of everything on the menu (it all looked so good). We settled on the spread which included lobster spring rolls with guacamole, prosciutto, brie with fig jam and walnuts, chicken bites with mayo, and bread as well as a bowl of fish soup. This meal was by far the most amazing thing we had to eat on our entire trip. We could not decide on a favorite as we kept moving back and forth between bites of each. Everything was so incredibly fresh. My personal favorite was the fish soup which tasted like it had jumped from the ocean straight into the bowl. I could not believe how delicate and flavorful the fish tasted in the impeccably seasoned and perfectly creamy dish. The staff was lovely and you could tell that Gott just made people happy.
Do not miss this if on the islands - it is also open for lunch despite what some sources suggest.
The food is incredible: tasty and extremely fresh. Not one dish missed the mark but the star was the cod - why don't they have cod like that in the UK?!
If in Iceland, do pop over to the islands. Great culture, such friendly people, great food, great museum and great activities (see rib tour safari review).
Thanks to the people of the Vestmannaeyjar Islands!
